PS3 2.6.21 Kernel ebuild / Controller via Bluetooth

I'm quite a n00b when it comes to layman (seems simple enough though.) I have added the overlay into /etc/layman/layman.cfg, but then when I run

I know this is just a simple mistake, or me not following the directions correctly or something... I setup Gentoo using this tutorial.

Got exactly the same error, and not yet had time to look around for the problem. I think the file asm/page.h should come from some kernel headers or the kernel source, but am guessing at the moment... unless there is something specific to busybox...

Certainly, the kernel sources have a lot of page.h files in various asm directories...

Will try and get a better look tomorrow (Saturday), unless someone already has a solution?

I would just like to have 64bit kernel/32bit kernel, with the latest 2.6.21 kernel on my PS3, but blocked by this error.

Man I have been going kind of crazy trying to figure this out....

I just want to get this working so bad.... I would be happy getting it to work wired for the time being but I can't even get it to do that.

I'm so confused with patching.... I read the man page on it... and it says to type patch (Original File) (Patch) and I have been trying this.... I just don't understand what to patch.... I have been browsing this thread for like a few hours just trying randomness since I don't really understand.

For some reason when I trying to use or find hidd it doesn't exist either.... I do however see the controller trying to connect when I view the log... and I even notice the lights on the controller flashing for like a second.... here is the log for the tool.

I'm in the process of updating the overlay on layman at the moment
I've got 2.6.23 working which seems to be a lot better than 2.6.21
also I've got an updated ebuild for dtc to build the kernel (we're now at 1.0.0)

However I've not added this into the overlay yet
as I'm still in the process of going through some of the other ebuilds for bluetooth etc to check (also to update the kernel to rc9)
and to see if everything still works with it updated (snes9x X etc)

I've only used a 64bit system so far, so I can't comment on how this overlay will work under 32bit
but one of the things to be aware of is that the default config for building the PS3 kernel defaults to 64bit
so you'll need to alter the .config configuation using make menuconfig to select a 32bit kernel if one is needed

since I keep seeing the same questions asked on the thread I'm also trying to get something onto my web page as well to describe the setup a bit clearer

I'm trying to follow your instructions, and I got to the point where I'm supposed to be emerge everything. As things are right now, the website from which I'm supposed to download the DTC tarball is down, and I haven't been able to find a different location to download from. I found a newer version, but that's about it. Would you (or someone for that matter) happen to have a copy hidden away somewhere which you could post somewhere and allow me to download it?

I'm getting to it

I've just spent the weekend updating most of my machines with emerge -up --deep --newuse world and revdep-rebuild

I've just uploaded a partial update to the overlay for dtc mostly
although some of the other stuff such as snes9x I haven't tried out yet, just copied fresh from bugzilla

I still need to re-update sys-kernel again since these still date prior to the official release of 2.6.23
also I've jiggled around the package names
(I want to see if I can use the gentoo patches)
there's also a newer version of bluezutils that I need to check out in the official tree to see how it's been patched

the ebuild in ps3-git-sources "ps3-git-sources-9999" is masked by default
but you can just add it to /etc/portage/package.keywords/ if you want to use it
it should auto cone the git tree to /usr/portage/distfiles/ (note this can be quite big) then install under /usr/src/
for the others in sys-kernel I'd leave these for now, since I might need to change the names / update them anyway

Need newest kernel so i can use controller's in freevo, as i now have patched high-speed-mplayer =)

I've just made an update to the kernel

sys-kernel/ps3-git-sources
this now represents the vanilla tree + ps3 patches
1. ps3-git-sources-2.6.23.8
this is the latest stable kernel with the ps3 patch-set
the last patch included is commit 311a4cbaeffbcc7d963a3dd61e2dfc3cef7daa83
labeled as "Merge in Geert's video 'safe mode'"
all the later ps3 patches appear to be against the 2.6.24 series
(I haven't tried to back port these, probably best to just to wait for 2.6.24)

2. ps3-git-sources-2.6.24_rc3
prepatch version of the linux kernel with the latest ps3 patch-set
this one's probably a bit unstable but untested

3. ps3-git-sources-9999
direct git pull from the ps3 git tree

sys-kernel/ps3-garlicbread-sources
kernel 2.6.23.8 + gentoo patch set (including squashfs) + ps3 patch + UDF patch
1. ps3-garlicbread-sources-2.6.23
same as git-sources but with added bits (gentoo + udf)
this is the one I'm using at the moment

I've only just put this up so I still haven't had time to test this properly yet
but I think the 2.6.23.8 build appears to be okay
(I wonder if uvesafb will work?)

I'm not sure if your using a 32bit or 64bit system (this has only been tried on 64bit)
but you could try disabling the spu support under the ps3 options in the kernel config (it looks like something spu related)
I'm curently waiting for 2.6.24 to be out proper before trying another update

I have stared at the 1st post for hours now trying to figure out what to do after the layman code. The Code boxes just kind of stopped. I would like the 2.6.23 kernel with UDF patches and bluetooth. Could somebody please help me out. I have gentoo installed with 2.6.23 kernel but with no patches.

First, remeber to do (i addition to that from the first post)

Thanks for the help, will try later when I get home.

I did find that using "make ps3_defconfig" will set all the correct kernel options for you and then "make menuconfig" is optional after that.
