I had two Gentoo systems configured almost identically and I installed Puresecure on them.

Shortly after doing so (like a week later) I couldn't do an 'emerge -u system' because modultils was giving me a compile error. The error was 'too many symbolic links'. I got the exact same error doing system updates on both machines that I installed Puresecure on, and have never seen the error on a machine that didn't have Puresecure installed.

Has someone messed with Puresecure and figured out why it breaks Gentoo? My only thoughts are these: the install script for Puresecure requests that you don't have apache, mysql, snort, etc, installed when you run the script becuase it goes out and pulls the source and installs it the way it needs it. I think this is somehow messing with some vital packages, but I don't know how.

It was 1.1a that was on those two boxen, by the way. I have a new 1.2 system now and I am getting ready to install Puresecure again, so I am crossing my fingers. :)

Hmmm... PureSecure looks neat.

Just a thought: does it make a whole bunch of symlinks? :)

LOL

I am going to say that based on the error it probably does. My question is how should I address this and make gentoo and puresecure get along?

I must have them both.

:)

Redhat is not an option.

Well, right, but where are all these symlinks? I don't have it; I can't tell you. :D

I've made a working ebuild, needs Mail::Sendmail ebuild which I also made.
