Is autofs incompatible with a Thinkpad X60s??

I've struggled, for a week, trying to get autofs4 to automount devices and network shares on a new Thinkpad X60s. It works fine on my desktop machine. I'm beginning to wonder if application incompatibility with the laptop is the problem...

Is there anyone with the same Thinkpad X60s who has installed autofs4 and run it with success?

Are there others with the same laptop who are experiencing a similar problem?

I hate to continue spending time with this if it's a known issue...

Anyone know the answer to this?
