Hi,
I've read the infor pages on the project: http://www.ltsp.org/
However Im curious how it performs on an everyday basis. How well is the implementation? Do things respond so u get the feeling of sitting in front of a "real" PC?
How does the project perform compared to MS-terminal server / Citrix Mainframe ?
I know this isnt directly "Desktop" issue, but my main concern is the desktop-performance...ie. Does KDE work fast and furious or what
Thanks.. _________________ regards,

Well, as long as your network is not to slow or loaded,
there is no difference to sitting in front of the machine;
Try it out:
emerge ltsp-core, change those config-files and there u go;
or just do a
X :1 -query somehost,
where somehost is a machine that has a login-manager
(like kdm|gdm|xdm with Xdmcp enabled) running...
it's worth trying... |

My terminal is 486-100MHz with 16MB ram 100Mbit pci 8139 realtek with bootrom and Matrox Millennium vga. Much faster than winblows. _________________ "Yes, I know Linux runs faster, but they can do that because they have thrown out the weight of the airbag, collision frame and safety belt." —Poul-Henning Kamp |
