Bluetooth CF/PCMCIA card -- how to find it?

Kernel not recognizing your hardware? Problems with power management or PCMCIA? What hardware is compatible with Gentoo? See here. (Only for kernels supported by Gentoo.)

Bluetooth CF/PCMCIA card -- how to find it?

  • Quote

Post by Rukie » Sat Apr 14, 2007 3:35 am

EDIT: If by some chance (probably high..) that this card has no drivers/is unsupported, where can I spend my tax refund money to get a SUPPORTED bluetooth PCMCIA card? Thanks. :ENDEDIT

Alright. Here's the deal.
I have a Compact Flash Bluetooth Card. I do NOT have a compact flash reader on my laptop. I DO however have a Compact Flash to PCMCIA converter. Using this, bluetooth works fine in windows.

Bluetooth CF >>> CF to PCMCIA Converter >>> Laptop

I have cf/sd/mm stuff enabled in kernel
I have pcmcia stuff enabled in kernel (I have a wireless card, works great)

below are a few things that show some system information..

Oh, and I found this website.
http://tuxmobil.org/pcmcia_ci10515.html
I don't have any idea how to detect the bluetooth card for hciconfig tho :-(
Uhm, the bluetooth card DOES blink.. so its getting power... (shrug) I'm confused.

I don't think it got picked up by lspci. It doesn't look like it.
I'm too lazy to keep this stupid signature up to date, so here's something more interesting:
My friend Hetdegon can draw if you ask me.
Now using PClinuxOS on my laptop and Gentoo on my desktop and new laptop.

Thats the thing.. lspcmcia says it needs a driver...

but what driver is that?? Is it somethign t hat would be in the kernel, or a module? I've got tons of stuff enabled in the kernel.
So, because lspci doesn't pick it up, does that mean that this is a complete waist of time? Is there a way a noob like myself could take another kernel and modify it?... (I doubt it...)

Anyways, since it seems like it'll be difficult to find drivers, any other pcmcia bluetooth suggestions?
