Hi all,

I get a problem with my new laptop, a VAIO FE41M.

In it, we find two great things that I can't make work :
-the keys (FN and S1/S2 buttons)
- the camera

For the buttons, I tried to load the module named SONYPI (compiled as module) with different parameters (modinfo sonypi gave me these parameters). No issue : does anyone get one ?

For the camera, I don't know anything about V4L. I've tried to foolw this link : http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Sony_Picturebook
But, I don't find the meye module in my kernel. The ebuild "motioneye" doesn't include it.

Anyone can help ?
Thanks.

I have a Vaio 41S and have the same problem.
I also find the fonts not very well done. It looks like they are "fuzzy" and have colored shadows.
Very weird.... I followed every possible font-howto there is, but I can't fix it.

I have a Vaio FE31M, keep that in mind please, your mileage may vary, but I still want to help...

Fn keys work out of the box. The S1/S2 buttons, well you might get them working with xev. There's a howto in the gentoo wiki, something with "Get Multimedia keys working. I'll find the link later, if you haven't already...

The gspcav1 driver (in portage) works mighty fine here. Afaik it doesn't need the motioneye stuff.

I'm using the 2.6.21-viper2 kernel sources, with has a sony-laptop patch, so you don't have to bother with external modules...

I'm not sure what extra features the sony-laptop patch gives me though... I think it's acpi-related ?

I use the xeffects overlay. If you haven't tried it yet, you should. It has font-related patches.

Also, I haven't tested suspend to RAM/Disk, I'm waiting until I can use the latest suspend2 patch, before I'll bother with that. I get nearly 3 hours of battery life out of this, without wifi. Slightly less with wifi.
