Hello
Ya I know. It was a really lame subject line, but it got you reading this post didn't it?
I'm trying to do the stage 1 install but I'm having trouble getting my ADSL connection to work. My ISP Telia (Sweden) have done a really irritating thing with the login process. To log in you point your webbrowser at login1.telia.com and fill out the form. The following http request is then sent to the server
#begin
POST http://login1.telia.com/sd/init/login HTTP/1.1
username myUsername
password myPassword
#end
or something like that. Is there some way to open a http socket thats connected to a pipe or something and just send the above request with the tools provided on the gentoo-ix486-1.iso cd?
I know everything else is working because I can ping my DNS.
This is a five liner. Do I at this point in the install process have access to any programming language with socket support?

P.S I havn't slept for 24 hours... the above might not make sense to you but it does to me |

Since you're so good at getting people to read your posts, do you think you could offer some suggestions on getting them to search before they post in the first place?
I don't think the tools are on the CD, per se, but you can add them pretty easily. Otherwise, use (or add) the telnet client, telnet to port 80 and send the 5 lines manually.

Telnet. Ofcourse. Stupid me.
Searching? How about sleeping. I did some searching but the fact that I didn't think of telnet tells me I probably didn't grok the stuff I was reading.
Thanks kurt

there's a cool proggie called qadsl out there, that's specifically made for Telia... It rocks, but it isn't in the portage tree tho...
It's somewhere on www.linuxsweden.nu... |

Well,
I'm getting myself a new computer in a couple of days,
with xp preinstalled(I'm gonna wipe that shit out...).
Would it not be possible to take this route:
Set up networking in xp(telia adsl)
Logon to telia
Reboot without logoff(from telia)
Boot from gentoo cd
Proceed with install as normal
If nobody tells me otherwise, this is what I will be
doing next week...
It worked like I expected, and now theres a new gentoo
install in town.... |
