now after remerging the whole system suing only the keyword amd64

still the same error msg while emerging grub


what shall i do

@ bugs.gentoo.org someone there told me that my profile is still pointing to a x86 profile, which is the cause of this error

thanks everyone for the help, i guess i will need to start from scratch and be sure to choose the correct profile

First of all, using default-linux/x86/2006.1 profile when you want 64bit system is completely wrong. You need one of the default-linux/amd64 profiles instead, such as default-linux/amd64/2006.1 :!:

i just wanted to have a ntpl enabled system

the guide i was following mentioned the profile thing but i didn't understand it quite well, no i do

i will try it again

when you follow a guide make sure to follow it correctly ;)
