Patching Madwifi drivers for use with aireplay

I have tried patching the madwifi driver to be used with aireplay following the directions located

here,

Yet both don't seem to work.

After following the instructions on madwifi-ng, everything seems to install ok, but then I have no ath0 or wifi0 in my iwconfig.
While following the instructions on madwifi, I get errors specifying files and directories don't exist.

I have patched my driver with a previous release of aireplay on gentoo and it worked like a dream. But this aireplay-ng set I cannot get working. Does anyone have any experience installing and patching madwifi cards to use with aireplay?

I don't think that you need to patch anything manually, just emerge madwifi with injection USE flag set.
