Since the Gentoo Forums houses resident experts on pretty much all topics computer related, I figured this would be the best place to ask:

I want to experiment with Solaris 10 for the x86 architecture. Only problem is, I don't want to destroy my install on the primary drive. Can Solaris 10 be installed on the slave? If it can be installed on the slave, I'm guessing GRUB can boot it. If not, what boot loader can?

I have looked at lots of documentation from Sun and can't quite find an answer I'm comfortable with.

solaris uses grub to boot, just unplug the primary and install solaris.
