I have never really gotten into LDAP...What will it do for me? With samba? With postfix?
Thanks! |

LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is a directory that you can use to store every detail of your users, including their password, phone number, office, etc. You can decide what information you want to store and what you want to do with it.
As I see it, LDAP will make your system more scalable than say, a text file with a long list of accounts (smbpasswd).
The downside is that it's quite a bit more complex and takes more planning and effort to setup. _________________ -- jumps over the lazy dog |
