Likewise:

Code:

chiana ~ # emerge -uDNav world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.5-r50".
(dependency required by "kde-base/kwin-3.5.5-r2" [ebuild])

One point I've noted: eix shows kwin-3.5.5-r2 as x86, whereas packages.gentoo.org shows it as ~x86 :?

Yeah, I'm assuming a typo, but can't find it in the kwin ebuild.

I am no expert but here goes:

The typos are in various files in metadata/cache/
If you want to fix all of them, you'll need to run emerge --metadata afterwards

edit: maybe not

Looks like to fix this bug the ebuilds for kwin and kdesktop were updated. I think there's a tiny typo in the KM_DEPRANGE declaration in each. They both read
Code:
KM_DEPRANGE="3.5.5-r7 $MAXKDEVER"
And it seems like they should both be this instead:
Code:
KM_DEPRANGE="3.5.5-r1 $MAXKDEVER"

Make that change, redigest the ebuilds, and then the emerge goes through swimmingly.

NB: I don't know for a fact that that's what the KM_DEPRANGE should actually be, but calling for r7 is what creates the high dependency. So, I'd suggest waiting for a fix to come down from the dev side rather than doing this by hand.

I lied... actually it looks like you just need to unmask kdelibs-3.5.5-r7, and it all works fine.

Not so, here. Sync'd again and kdelibs-3.5.5-r7 is now also marked stable, in addition to kwin-3.5.5-r2 - the problem was persisting, so I checked on bugs.gentoo.org and found a couple relevant bugs that've been marked as closed invalid - hmm, what to do...?

Yup, the answer was to comment out the line in /etc/make.conf for layman. That was bringing in the Xeffects overlay, that I forgot to remove after an abortive try of Beryl. Result, emerge is now happy.

Phantom problem, due to overlay, heh.

Best,
Matthew

P.S. If I was the original poster I'd mark thread as [SOLVED].

Hm, interesting. I encountered the same thing and would have expected emerge to pick the un-keyworded ebuild. Portage bug?
Honestly I don't want to remove layman inclusion for that (will do that temporarily though) -- portage should be capable of handling "same" ebuilds from different sources..

I've the same problem here...

My last portage sync was two hours ago and the problem persists. I don't want to comment my xeffects overlay line because I'm currently using the cvs version of Beryl. If I comment that line portage tries to downgrade my Beryl package to the one in the oficial portage tree.

Does somebody know how to solve this?

Thank you

I commented it and did emerge --sync && emerge -puvDN world and portage took kdelibs-3.5.5-r7 as stable version. Then I commented out line for layman in make.conf to get freetype fonts from xeffects and this time portage complained that "All ebuilds that could satisfy "=kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.5-r7" have been masked", "dependency required by "kde-base/kwin-3.5.5-r2".

Re-sync the overlay by:

Code:
chiana ~ # layman -S

as suggested in: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164422#c4

Best,
Matthew

EDIT: Nope, syncing layman didn't change anything. The bug I linked suggested the ebuild there had been fixed, but it seems that's not the case.

As I'm trying to install beryl now (thanks to a newly installed NVidia card), I didn't want to comment out the layman line in my make.conf, so I found that deleting kdelibs-3.5.5-r7.ebuild in the xeffects overlay solved the problem. Since this version of kdelibs is stable in the main tree, I didn't see a need to have it in the overlay too. Of course, I'm going to run into issues next time I sync layman, but by then I'll have kwin updated and emerge -uDN world won't be looking to update it, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

Now for several hours of emerging updates for kdelibs and qt... :/

Hi,

Sadly when you resync the xeffects overlay the problem persists.

I can't believe that nobody at xeffects team can solve this.

they can and will, make sure they know about it, or remove the overlay and use beryl/compiz from official portage.

Thank you for notifying me. Seems like this issue has been hitting everyone who uses kde and the overlay. Can you please sync and test it? I personally don't get the error, because I use ~x86 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS. And I have a feeling the issue is because kdelibs was still marked ~x86 in the ebuild.

P.S: The reason no one could solve this, is because at least myself, didn't know about it.. Can't expect me to search every forum for xeffects issues, that's why we have our own.

Thank you and I'm sorry for not to notify this issue earlier.

I'll test it tonight when I arrive at home.
