I get this error when trying to run Starcraft in wine:

The problem seems to be with /dev/nvidiactl. All options I've google'd seem a little different with each other, per changing the permissions on the file. Is this the recommended solution and is it safe? I changed the permissions to chmod 777 to no effect, unless a restart was required for these changes to be reflected which I didn't try.

sudo gpasswd -a USERNAME video and a reboot worked. Tried it once before without a reboot and thought it didn't do anything. A reboot is required for this to work. Problem solved.

| More accurately, you should just be able to log out and log back in for new group information to take effect. |
