I'm dumb.
So i typed:
usermod -G portage,video
and now I can't su as root... I'm assuming this is because my user doesn't have permission to do so, right? How do i get my regular permissions back? _________________ Gentoo 2006.1 | AMD X2

nevermind, looks like i just erased all of my user's groups, including the wheel group, which explains why i wasn't allowed to su. Logged out, logged back in as root, then i used gpasswd -a user group_name to readd myself. All is well...
but i'm still dumb _________________ Gentoo 2006.1 | AMD X2 |

You have to add that user to the wheel group. Using -G removes you from any group you're currently a member of if you haven't put it in the list on the command line. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
