Dual Monitor (Laptop) + Mouse Position Woes

Hi,

So here is my problem. I have my laptop monitor (widescreen 1280x800 at the moment) and my second monitor is at 1280x1024. Things work "alright" however there is this little bug where, when I do work on my larger monitor, and come back to the laptop monitor, the mouse is about an inch above where it should be. (i.e. I click in one place but the actual click is an inch below where I clicked). The way to correct this is by clicking at the top of the small screen each time, but that gets really annoying. Does anyone else have a different solution. I have an ATI x800 mobility card and am running ATI's drivers. My guess is the problem has something to do with X being "tricked" by the different screen resolutions.

Yes the problem would be that X has to deal with multiple resolutions and im not sure how x handles switching between them. the easiest solution would be to have both monitors at the same resolution.
But of course that solution isnt practical.
what video card are you using?
because in http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Dual_Monitors it mentions (under ATI)
