Can't record sound with alsa

Hi everyone

I am new to gentoo.

I have my system working correctly now, but when trying to record sound from the mic. nothing is recorded.

When connecting the mic. i get the sound out from the speakers correctly.

I am using gnome. for recording i use "sound recorder" application came with gnome.

Any ideas about what is wrong?

Try using the Tab button in alsamixer to tab over to the Capture area, and seeing whether any of the settings are suspicious.
