If you work in a hosting environment and there isnt always network staff around to refresh the vlan after swapping a nic or something this can come in handy.

Well arp in the switch will see the "new" mac addy on the card and wont know what to do since it will still have routing assigned in arp for the old mac of the card , Depending upon arp timeout this can sometimes be a serious problem.

There is an easy fix though

ping -I <client's IP number> -c 1 www.google.com

This will refresh arp and you wont have to bother networks ;)

Just thought it was handy and maybe it will help out some of my fellow hosting brothers
