I'm trying to install gentoo 2006 on an old computer with barton 2000 ... and a wireless pci card, netgear wpn311it that i have already tested and i'm sure it works. I boot with live cd 2006 and then I switch to console mode. If I insert iwconfig it generates a list of devices each one followed by no wireless extension

lo no wireless extension
eth0 no wireless extension
eth1 no wireless extension

does this mean that my card is not supported? do you know if netgear card in general have any issue with gentoo or linux? Even trying to follow the livecd wizards wireless card is not recognized. I can only use a wireless card since the accesspoint/router/adsl modem - we have a small office - is in another room so it's important to me to have it work  Thank you |

| well.... unfortunatly as far as i know, there is no way! since on the live cd there is no ndiswrapper installed. |

ok thank you. so if I previously install gentoo can I emerge it after, without downloading it? I mean: can it be emerged from install live cd? what package should I emerge?
- sorry what is a ndiswrapper?  |
