I'm compiled kernel with Intel/Nvidia/AMD AC97
and I have a problem.
During loading the Gentoo console writes:
Code: |
ALSA devices:
Nvidia CK8S with ALC850 at 0xff6fb000, irq 18.
|
but then i'm emerge mpg123 it say no audio device selected.
mplayer playing, but nothing is audible. |

Can you emerge lspci and post your output, or give us some details on your board?? I have an nforce2 and it works with those options, although mine loads the snd_intel8x0 driver.
Also, have got ALSA support built into your kernel??
Are you using a manually built kernel, or a genkernel??
Do you have the /etc/init.d/alsasound script running upon boot?? |

That is likely the problem then. you'll have to manually run /etc/init.d/alsasound manually before you can get sound. It'll make certain everything for the kernel is loaded, and then start the ALSA engine and restore your previous sound card settings.
Once the ALSA engine is started for the first time, all channels are muted so you don't blow your speakers or ear drums. Run alsamixer to unmute them (man alsamixer for help). |

Then you need to emerge alsa-utils, which will also provide alsamixer. _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |
