so... im attempting a stage 1 install from the 2006.1 x86 livecd. sweet.
however, it fails during emerge system. =\ the following is from the output tab of the gtk installer.
Code: |
making executable: /usr/lib/liblber-2.3.so.0.2.15
making executable: /usr/lib/libldap-2.3.so.0.2.15
making executable: /usr/lib/libldap_r-2.3.so.0.2.15
making executable: /usr/lib/libslapi-2.3.so.0.2.15

because im still learning, i explored a little. i found that the file etools.eclass is a collection of scripts (i think) designed to make our lives easier... cool. except, when the script intended to "simplify and standardize the process of adding groups" calls a command that doesnt exist. however, i can access the command, its man page, and everything.
so, it does exist. =\ why, then, does this file fail to... execute? or whatever it does... and cause my installation to fail?
haha, this is a challenge; any help would be appreciated.

haha, such a simple solution. thank you.
however, i think ive another problem that will halt me again... i bumped it up to a stage 3 install, and while "installing extra packages", pyopengl failed to emerge. *sigh*
Code: |
!!! ERROR: dev-python/pyopengl-2.0.0.44 failed.
Call stack:
ebuild.sh, line 1539: Called dyn_unpack
ebuild.sh, line 711: Called src_unpack
pyopengl-2.0.0.44.ebuild, line 34: Called built_with_use 'dev-lang/python' 'tk'
eutils.eclass, line 1619: Called die
!!! dev-lang/python-2.4.3-r1 does not actually support the tk USE flag!
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

now... i know stage 1 installs are technically "unsupported", so im just taking my risks... but what the hell. is there some simple sort of way to deal with these errors that i just dont know about? haha. i always have such trouble with gentoo; wheres my big screw up? =\ |
