|
|
Hi,
I installed gentoo 1.2 with the gentoo-soures and xfs on one of my partitions. Now when I boot, I get a kernel panic because it can't find init. So I used the cd to boot up and manually mount each partition. Well it turns out the my / partition (/dev/hda2) which is xfs now contains no files at all. If I do df -h on it, it shows that 130 MB is being used. but an ls -la reveals that there are indeed no files.
Does anyone know of a way to recover this xfs partition. I just finished compiling everything (kernel, glibc, KDE 3,. etc....) and really want to start running a Neverwinter Nights server on it. I don't want to have to spend another 72 hours compiling again.
Thanks |

Actually, there is no fsck utility for XFS; it's checked and fixed automagically each mount. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

Yeah, but that's not fsck, it's repair. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

I tried xfs_repair but to no avail. Upon further investigation it looks like the drive is bad.
Thanks for your help. |
