Hello, I want to install precompiled GNOME on my system and wondered how I go about it.
I cant find anything in the docs. I am using LiveCD 2006.1
It is just 'emerge /dev/hdc/gnome' or something like that?
I aborted 'emerge gnome' as it took 8 hours to install 150 packages or so out of 363!! and came up with a lot of errors on the way.
Thanks

If you have the LiveCD, you can use the graphical installer. I never used it, but you're supposed to be able to do even a networkless install.
It will use the packages compiled on the LiveCD.
There is no more package cds with the new LiveCD, so there is no place I know where you can find precompiled packages. Gentoo is a source-based Linux distribution |
