can this be done? i havent found instructions for it anywhere....

the p75's mobo that i have is so old it doesnt support booting from the cdrom... i dont think i can manage to do the netboot install. seems a bit complicated for me :(

Hiya. What you need is a rescue disk or a 'boot' disk. You would use this to boot up, then you can mount your CD and drive same was you would as if you booted from the CD. Unfortunately, i have not yet found such an rescue disk, though may create one if there is interest.

The issues is that the boot environment must include the following:

* contains kernel image/module for your NIC
* tar that understand '-p'
* tar that understands '-j' OR bzip2 app
* mke2fs that understands '-j' (this only needed if you want to make ext3 fs)

I have the same probleme: cant "boot" from Cd-rom... and from network... The worst is that my systeme not that old...

I tried to boot from my Hard drive, but so fare I have not been succesfull... If any one knows a alternative methode to install gentoo and could post a bref how-to... I would greatly appreciate... :lol:

And if the pepole from gentoo, could create a "boot" disk image, it would
be even better!!! :idea:
