Hiya. What you need is a rescue disk or a 'boot' disk. You would use this to boot up, then you can mount your CD and drive same was you would as if you booted from the CD. Unfortunately, i have not yet found such an rescue disk, though may create one if there is interest.
The issues is that the boot environment must include the following:
* contains kernel image/module for your NIC
* tar that understand '-p'
* tar that understands '-j' OR bzip2 app
* mke2fs that understands '-j' (this only needed if you want to make ext3 fs)

|
|
I have the same probleme: cant "boot" from Cd-rom... and from network... The worst is that my systeme not that old...
I tried to boot from my Hard drive, but so fare I have not been succesfull... If any one knows a alternative methode to install gentoo and could post a bref how-to... I would greatly appreciate...
And if the pepole from gentoo, could create a "boot" disk image, it would
be even better!!!
Thanks |
