Hello forum,
I have recently moved my system over to a Gigabyte mainboard which has obviously fallen prey to a desperate attempt at cost reduction on the manufacturer's part: instead of the usual 5 audio jacks, it merely offers 3: microphone-in, front/line-out, and line-in; any others require a slot cover to be purchased separately.
Actually, I'm fine with these three jacks as the Realtek ALC882-type chip allows for any of the jacks to be reconfigured -- at least on Windows, where I've already successfully re-routed the microphone jack to be rear-out. Of course, I'd like for the same thing to be set up in Linux but can't for the life of me figure out how to.
The snd-hda-intel ALSA module supports a number of presets, three, to be precise: "3stack-dig", "6stack-dig", and "auto" which are supposed to set things up for varying hardware. Except for "auto", neither of those works, i.e., makes alsamixer crash, and I doubt they'd automagically do the routing I'd like to see.
Is there a way to set up the routing of the jacks that doesn't require me to mess with the module's source (which I haven't quite got a grasp of yet)? Any help would be appreciated.
