Hello everyone,
I've got Gentoo 1.4 installed on a Sony Vaio R505 GL... it uses ACPI, and so I patched 2.4.20 with the proper ACPI patch, and compiled the ACPI stuff as modules, and loaded the modules.
The problem, however, is the fan. There is nothing in /proc/acpi/fan/ and the fan just seems to do it's own thing. The problem is the noise! In WinXP, I could set the fan to quiet and all was fine. In Gentoo here, there seems to be no way to specify anything like that, and so the fan makes a bit of a racket.
Does anyone know of a way to controll the fan w/ ACPI? Does a newer kernel (2.4.21-preX, or 2.5.*) fix anything like this? The other R505 person I talked to said they had no fan trouble...
Thanks! _________________ pmj / [a]orange |
