Followed all the documentation,
built the kernel using sparc-sources (its a sun v100).

Installed Silo, configured it and copied the kernel to /boot.

It finds the kernel file but then aborts. Help! What do I do now ???

You post the abort message and your Silo config

Edit : Why did you post 2 times ?

I don't want to be rude or anything but ... how are we supposed to help you ?
I don't know silo and I don't know specific about sparc but well.
Why don't you post your /etc/silo.conf for example ?
The output of ls -l /boot/ too, these kinds of informations.

Even if I don't know sparc, I know that 90% of cases, when an install don't work it's a configuration error, so try to give a lot of informations that could tip helpers or else you won't have any clue.

If you phone to any maintenance when you tell "my router don't work", they will ask you a lot of things.
Here it's the same except that helpers are not paid; so be creative and try to help them more ...

Edit : The error message you posted is correct ?
Isn't it 'Kernel too old' ?
If it's that you should put informations about your kernel too, version and /usr/src/linux/.config or whatsoever on sparc.

Yui - You're right - sorry.

Yes, I think the kernel message is too old. For some reason, my display was chopping off the start.

I'm trying again using the newer gentoo-sources kernel rather than sparc-sources.
