Just notice for everyone. I have ran months without APIC support in my kernel with my Athlon XP 1700 processor. Now I re-compiled kernel with APIC support (APIC + IO APIC) enabled and woeee what speed improvement with kde 
I'm now running kernel 2.4.20 + pfeifer's patches (linux-2.4.20-pfeifer-r1_pre7). |

I setuped it on my laptop( p4 1.4 ), with gaming source.
but when I start I have the following message :

I guess it won t works here ....
