Hello all,
my current exercise is to completely rebuild a server, and it was planned to purchase a multiprocessor system again. So I thought about purchasing another Opteron System (2 Opteron dual cores), and put Gentoo with a multilib profile on it, as I did that before without any problems.
The additional difficulty now is, the system is critical for security, so I want a hardened kernel to enforce additional security. Now I read that hardened kernel + amd64 + multilib is experimental, but I was not able to find anyone using it, any experiences, problems, or anything else about it. I guess the combination is simply quite exotic.
Does anyone have experience with this kind of combination, or recommendations for the setup? Would a 32 bit Gentoo be better if security is more important here? And how exactly would it even work to put a 32 bit Gentoo on this hardware?
Thanks a lot in advance for your tips
