Hey there, I have a quick question.
I installed the package xorg-x11 with VIDEO_CARDS="fglrx", but surprise surprise fglrx doesn't work on my AMD64 with ATI 9600Pro. So I decided to go back to the radeon drivers.
I emerged x11-drm with VIDEO_CARDS="radeon".
So everything worked fine, I even can modprobe the radeon module, but when I try to start X it tells me there is no radeon module (it is already loaded however )
So my question is, do I have to re-compile the whole Xserver because I want to use the radeon driver now?
Another solution would be to tell me why fglrx doesn't work
I already posted in this thread https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-397969-start-25.html
I would have thought ATI fixed the issue with the ioctl32 call, and i actually think they did, is it because I am not on a multilib profile, and I don't have a32lib support in my kernel, is that the problem?
Thanks in advance

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Duplicate Threads.
By the posters own admission its a duplicate. The discussion belongs in Desktop Environments. _________________ Regards,
