Does vesafb support widescreen resolutions, particularily 1680x1050? I am using amd64 and can't use vesafb-tng last I checked, so hopefully this is possible with the original vesafb driver?

From reading /usr/src/linux/Documentation/fb/vesafb.txt doesn't look like it.

I have a 1680x1050 native resolution LCD also, and using 1280x1024 the framebuffer stills look OK and not stretched out.
(I suppose it depends on the scaling quality of the LCD)

That's what mine is now, and it looks stretched. It's not ridiculously stretched looking, but i can definately see it.
