jabberd + jit always offline

Situation:
net-im/jabberd-2.0.11-r1
net-im/jit-1.1.6-r3

The problem is that some contacts in the ICQ list are never online. If i send an re-authorize request at somebody that should be online he gets online. If I disconnect and reconnect then he is again offline. The strange thing is that this doesn't happen with all contacts.

Any ideas what could cause this?

EDIT:
Additional informations. When somebody logs on or off then this is registered correctly. It seems like the status is not queried upon connecting to the ICQ transport. More I could not find out so far.
