after newinstalling gentoo 1.4rc2 (systemcrash), i've the problem to insatll esound.
in emerge system it was a problem with M4, i resolved by hand. and now after emerge esound (emerge wmakerconf) ==>

Could you post about 15 more lines prior to that part of the error message?

i've resolved this problem. i'm not more using gento 1.4_rc4. i'm using rc2. with this is there no problem.
in an older installation i'm wrote i686.. instead i586..in the make.conf. there was the same output like in rc4

Here is the output of my error. It is a Gentoo-1.4_rc4 system. It seems like everything I emerge, I get these errors.

try version 1.4 rc2.
i've got errors with rc4, butr not with rc2
