Moved from Desktop Environments to Off The Wall.
Not a support request. Just a senseless announcement.

This Thread was a senseless announcement as well, so what? May in the next few days there will be ebuilds or other related stuff for gentoo, which can be discussed in this thread and then it's not OTW.

Grrr, mods.

Well, RC1 is not on Off the Wall but in Desktop Environments :)

I compiled the RC2 with these ebuilds and it works :) I had to digest xfce4-extras.

Also, some packages now want to downgrade... :)

Moved from Off the Wall to Desktop Environments.

http://omploader.org/file/xfce-gtk.png is a screenshot of the default window-manager and gtk theme from about a week before RC2 was released (via SVN).

Thx for moving the thread back.
Ebuilds are in the wild - see old thread - but I don't think they'll get into portage soon...

I just realised that moloh had updated his ebuilds since I first emerged them, even for RC1.... :?

If Moloh is reading this thread, can you please announce future ebuild updates? :?:

So, whilst I'm updating, I know I manually added in the USE keyword to the extras package for XMMS... is this a USE key in the new ones, or will I have to manually add it in again? (and what happens now that XMMS is being removed from portage?)

Edit: I tried downloading the ebuilds from the link provided in the RC1 thread: http://rapidshare.com/files/2154850/xfce44-rc2_overlay.tar.bz2.html, however these files don't seem downloadable anymore :? ... can someone else either a) make them downloadable elsewhere, or b) email them to me

Edit: removed email address

I had no problems downloading this stuff. Uploaded again to public:
http://filebase.b3cks.com/gentoo/ebuilds/xfce/

Btw: Why is ne Murrine-GTK-Engine part of this overlay? I don't think it's the default engine in Xfce 4.4 'cause Xfce uses its own.

Why isn't Xarchiver in portage? It has benn for months in bugzilla, and is an integral part of the new Xfce.

That was my mistake. I forgot to delete it from my own overlay before I zipped it up. It's not used and can be safely ignored or deleted. Also the xfce4-extras package isn't completely updated as I don't use it. The core xfce4 rc2 ebuilds should all be in working order, however. I just didn't want to wait days, weeks or months for updated ebuilds and figured I'd at least try to get the ball rolling. Thanks for upping it to an alternate download source for everyone.

With this overlay I deleted the dependency in the xfce4-extras ebuild ;)

Great :) I wondered when rc2 will show up...
Any word on extras?
EDIT: I see they are outside of tarball.

Ummm.... I had to manually edit the xfce4-extras ebuild again, otherwise it came up with hard masked warnings for xmms :? Or did you mean that this was what you did yourself?

Also, since the above ebuilds didn't have all the extras, I've kept mine from RC1.... but this means that every time I try and do an update world, it oscillates been emerging the RC1 libraries and the RC2 libraries :?

Same here.

For XMMS, yes I edited manually the xfce4-extras ebuild and deleted the xmms dependency (to avoid the hard mask error).

OK, I wasn't sure whether your previous post meant you edited it just on your local machine, or for the ebuilds that were available to download (not quite sure who wrote those ebuilds :? )

Ok. I had this same issue with RC1, and now seem to be the same for RC2 with Thunar and Exo..

Thunar:
Code:

!!! ERROR: xfce-base/thunar-0.5.0_rc2 failed.
Call stack:
  ebuild.sh, line 1454:   Called source '/usr/local/portage/xfce-base/thunar/thunar-0.5.0_rc2.ebuild'
thunar-0.5.0_rc2.ebuild, line 5:   Called inherit 'xfce'
  ebuild.sh, line 1189:   Called die

!!! xfce.eclass could not be found by inherit()
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

aux_get(): (0) Error in xfce-base/thunar-0.5.0_rc2 ebuild. (1)
Check for syntax error or corruption in the ebuild. (--debug)

Exo:
Code:

!!! ERROR: xfce-extra/exo-0.3.1.12_rc2 failed.
Call stack:
  ebuild.sh, line 1454:   Called source '/usr/local/portage/xfce-extra/exo/exo-0.3.1.12_rc2.ebuild'
exo-0.3.1.12_rc2.ebuild, line 5:   Called inherit 'xfce'
  ebuild.sh, line 1189:   Called die

!!! xfce.eclass could not be found by inherit()
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

aux_get(): (0) Error in xfce-extra/exo-0.3.1.12_rc2 ebuild. (1)
Check for syntax error or corruption in the ebuild. (--debug)

I don't understand why its doing this.. What am I missing? Do I need to change "inherit xfce" to something else? What would that be? Whats xfce.eclass?

EDIT: Nvm. I'm an idiot. Forgot to do ebuild bla setup first.. -_-

Worked fine for me..... maybe your ebuilds got corrupted when you downloaded them? Just a thought...
