|

I have a HP DeskJet 710C on my WINXP machine and I want to print to that maching from my linux box. I have emerged pnm2ppa, downloaded the ppd and put it in /usr/share/cups/models. I tried foomatic and got the can't connecti to host error (yes CUPS was running). I have tried to use the cups web interface, no luck there.
for the location of the printer its smb://guest:guest@THECOMMONALITY/HP_710C
This is extremely frustrating any help would be highly appricated!
Edit: Feel free to aim me if you wish. |

what is your output when you do a
Code: |
smbclient -L //THECOMMONALITY
|
is the HP_710C listed? or is anything listed?
Also have you emerged ghostscript after you emerged cups for the last time. If not this can mess up your cups ability to talk the right language with your printer.
I recommend trying the generic Deskjet driver that comes with Cups first. Once you get that working you can move on from there... and try your specialized ppd.
One more thing, if for some reason you don't see anything in the output above, try it again with the IP address of the XP machine. _________________ Linux saved my life and made me $1 million dollars over night... for only 19.95 it can all be yours |
