(1) Users with X Server X.org 7.1 can now play video using XV. The ATI AVIVO Video adaptor is now present.
(2) When failing to change the TV format the aticonfig --tv-info no longer report the failed TV format.
(3) Using the MPlayer to play a video file followed by dragging any window over top of the player no longer results in corruption being noticed and the video file
Further Details here:

Any ebuilds today?
Can't wait to get XV working.

Moved from Kernel & Hardware to Unsupported Software.
Wrong place to ask, and too early too. Give the developers some time to their work. They are usually quite well aware of what is being released when. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

OK. I'll keep that in mind. Sorry. The info was not only for the devs but for users too. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------------

Still no fix for switching VT freezing and logging out/back in to X? Their drivers haven't really worked for me since 8.23.7 which was months ago. |

Yea I've been pretty dissappointed too. Plus XV still doesn't work in AMD64
It's too bad the OSS drivers weren't just a little faster... _________________ Athlon 64 X2 @ 2ghz on an Asus nForce 4 w/ 1gig

I had that problem for several months and I just couldn't take it anymore so I went and bought an Nvidia card. _________________ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cell_(microprocessor) |

well i'm getting segfault with 8.30. 8.29.6 works nice. my card is x 600 pro. 8.30 works so far that i am getting into x session but if i start game everything freeze, and fglrxinfo and glxgears returning segmentation fault.
what is so special in playing videos using xv? i am using gl2 and it works quite nice. |

I also got segfault by emerging driver. (9800pro)
But I try to install through running ati-driver-installer-8.30.3.run directly,
GL program was able to work correctly.
Does ebuild have problem in? |

I'm quite disappointed with ATIs drivers. And their support (or lack there of).
For months now All GL apps have their rendering off set by 1/4 or so of the surface, which changes depending on the size of the surface. Even multiple pbuffer's in the same app all display the same problem. I've reported it, but they don't seem to care.
I assume it has to do with using "xinerama" or at least ATI's version of xinerama.
Soon I'll be buying new hardware, and I won't be getting an ATI card. |

Seems others are having the same problem I do. I'm unable to find a solution so far, since turning the screen off while starting X on a laptop is just a bit hard to do. Looks to me like yet another ATI bug. Have these clowns never heard of regression testing?
I cannot believe that I was stupid enough to buy a notebook with an integrated ATI card. It was head and shoulders above the competition for the price, and it was literally the only one I found that satisfied all my criteria except for having an ATI card. But still: ATI? So bloody stupid of me, I should have known better. I've never had these kinds of trouble with Nvidia. |

Just emerged the 8.30 drivers and have xorg 7.1. I still have no xv.
Code: |
slithy@tuxtop ~ $ xvinfo
X-Video Extension version 2.2
screen #0
no adaptors present |
Code: |
slithy@tuxtop ~ $ mplayer -vo xv test.avi
It seems there is no Xvideo support for your video card available.
Run 'xvinfo' to verify its Xv support and read DOCS/HTML/en/video.html#xv!
See 'mplayer -vo help' for other (non-xv) video out drivers. Try -vo x11
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device. |

slithy, try VideoOverlay option.
it is my device section.
Code: | Section "Device"
Identifier "fglrx"
Driver "fglrx"
# BusID "PCI:2:0:0"
Option "DesktopSetup" "single"
Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
EndSection |
i get following in X, and (may be?)redirect work in XGL too.
Code: | % xvinfo ~
X-Video Extension version 2.2
screen #0
Adaptor #0: "ATI Radeon Video Overlay"
number of ports: 1
port base: 115
operations supported: PutImage
supported visuals:
depth 24, visualID 0x23
depth 24, visualID 0x24
depth 24, visualID 0x25
depth 24, visualID 0x26
...more...
|
By the way, is eselect opengl correct?
it contain $LIBGL_DRIVER_PATH in env???
Code: | LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=$LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH::/usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri |

So If you have the opengl overlay enabled, it automatically disables xv. I had both enabled in my xorg.conf and it caused the xv to be disabled. But I disabled the opengl and xv is working just fine now. |

Did some more investigating of this. Problem seems specific to Totem as mplayer works fine. I'll probably blame gnome-media as when I check the "Xv/Xsm/Xvmc" option in "Multimedia Systems Selector" the last two bars are Blue, Red as opposed to Red, Blue for "No Xv", but if I run "gst-launch-0.10 videotestsrc ! xvimagesink" I get the correct Red, Blue.
