I noticed that mozilla-firefox-bin doesn't seem to use the XDG standard mime database in /usr/share/mime. I've never actually figured out what library seems to take care of that for XDG compliant applications or what it would take to get 32-bit binary applications to recognize the standard /usr/share/mime database?
I use firefox-bin almost exclusively instead of 64-bit firefox because I need 32-bit plugin support. |

Answered my own question. gnome-vfs. I'll have to look into what it will take to build a basic emul-linux-x86 package containing gnome-vfs2 and all dependent gnome libraries. It looks like firefox-bin has a stub library for linking in gnome-vfs support if it exists. |
