help with openvpn and tun driver..

ive got a server on which ive installed openvpn 2.0.6 and Ive got the
tunnel module loaded..
tun 7616 1
(although it didnt create the /dev/net/tun automagically)
so I created it manually after the module was loaded.. (this still bothers me that I had to create it btw 2.6.17-gentoo-r7 kernel)

and ive started openvpn and it seems to be happy.. when I tried to connect to it from a mac osx powerbook, I get the following in my server logs..

Ive searched but couldnt find any solid answers..
suggestsions?
