Hi gentooists!
I'm on a nocona platform with ati xpress200 with ati-drivers 8.last
I've compiled mplayer with these flags:
USE="bash-completion dri lirc dvd a52 asf flac aac dvb dvdread musepack rtc speex theora v4l2 vorbis x264 xvid bzip2 acpi fr oss -gtk alsa nptl nptlonly -qt3 dts mmx mmxext sse sse2 libcaca opengl sdl"
doing emerge -pv mplayer gives me:
[ebuild R ] media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre8 USE="aac alsa dts dvb dvd dvdread ipv6 libcaca lirc musepack opengl oss rtc sdl speex theora unicode v4l2 vorbis x264 xvid (-3dfx) (-3dnow) (-3dnowext) -X -aalib (-altivec) -arts -bidi -bindist -bl -cdparanoia -cpudetection -custom-cflags -debug -dga -directfb -doc -dv -encode -esd -fbcon -ggi -gif -gtk -i8x0 -jack -joystick -jpeg -live -livecd -lzo -mad -matrox (-mmx) (-mmxext) -nas -nvidia -openal -png (-real) -samba (-sse) (-sse2) (-svga) -tga -truetype -v4l (-win32codecs) -xanim -xinerama (-xmms) -xv -xvmc" LINGUAS="fr -bg -cs -da -de -el -en -es -hu -ja -ko -mk -nl -no -pl -pt_BR -ro -ru -sk -tr -uk -zh_CN -zh_TW"
and mplayer -vo help gives:
MPlayer 1.0pre8-4.1.1 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team
CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.53GHz (Family: 15, Model: 4, Stepping: 9)
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1
Compilé pour CPU x86 avec les extensions: MMX MMX2 3DNow 3DNowEx SSE SSE2
Pilotes de sortie vidéo disponibles:
sdl SDL YUV/RGB/BGR renderer (SDL v1.1.7+ only!)
caca libcaca
cvidix console VIDIX
null Null video output
mpegpes Mpeg-PES to DVB card
yuv4mpeg yuv4mpeg output for mjpegtools
pnm PPM/PGM/PGMYUV file
md5sum md5sum of each frame
93 codecs audio & 211 codecs vidéo
gl2 video driver is not there... any idea?
By the way why (-mmx) (-mmxext) (-sse) (-sse2) are not set as +mmx +mmxext etc... ? does parenthesis says that these options are explicit by nocona platform as
MPlayer 1.0pre8-4.1.1 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team

Compilé pour CPU x86 avec les extensions: MMX MMX2 3DNow 3DNowEx SSE SSE2
seems to says that's all extensions are taken into account?
Last question, do you any magical/mystical commandline for mplayer to lower the effect of "horizontal/vertical travelling"?
because when horizontal/vertical travelling occurs image is somtimes splited awfuly on multiple portion of images (don't know if I'm clear).
Have got this problem on linux but never on windows. So i think It's a postprocessing problem no?
Thanks a lot for your help!

It should work with the opengl useflag. Does OpenGL work for you outside of Mplayer?

The parenthesis means they are not optional. I guess you're using an amd64 arch. The mplayer ebuild turns these flags on automatically and non-optionally on amd64 arch.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Maybe you are talking about interlacing artefacts? You can check the postprocessing options with mplayer -pphelp or read the manpage (it's huge, I know ). I would suggest using something like mplayer -vf pp=fa/fd which works well for me. _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

Thanks for your reply,
For (flags) and postprocessing, thanks a lot, I will try post processing tonight. It's effectively interlacing artefact
For the gl2 problem, it's very strange... my X system supports DRI (using glxinfo says Direct randering = YES).
It's like if mplayer was not compiled with opengl flag ?_?
Will retry tonight, must a be a compilation problem ... thanks again for your clarifications!
More news tomorrow... |

Got it....
If xv flag is not activated, gl2 option do not appears...
activating xv flag + opengl flag make the gl,gl2 option appear...
Problem solved! |
