Hi,

I posted this question over at oooforum, but no luck in finding a solution so far. Maybe someone here can help?

I've searched the forums for help on making my thesaurus work, but to no avail. What's weird is that the dicitonary (spellchecking) is working fine.

I'm running gentoo, openoffice-2.0.3. I've compiled it with the "cairo firefox gtk java pam xml" flags. (do I have to compile with at least one LINGUAS set, or any other flags?)

I've also installed hunspell-1.1.4-r1, along with myspell-en-20060316.

If I highlight a word (a simple one, say "small") and press CTRL-F7, the thesaurus window pops up, but there is nothing in the "Meaning" and "Synonym" boxes. If I press Search, I get a pop up saying "Word not found in thesaurus", but I know it's in th_en_US.idx. If I press Language, I see the languages I have installed and English US is highlighted.

/usr/lib/openoffice/share/dict/ooo/dictionary.lst is pretty lengthy so I won't include here, but it includes all the DICT, HYPH and THES entries. I can post it on demand.

/usr/lib/openoffice/share/dict/ooo has a bunch of symlinks to the reals dictionary files in /usr/share/myspell/.

In oowriter,
Tools/Options/Language Settings/Writing Aids/Available language modules
x OpenOffice.org Hunspell SpellChecker
x ALTLinux LibHnj Hyphenator
x OpenOffice.org New Thesaurus

All are checked.

English (USA) is the selected language for the document.

How can I make the thesaurus work? Thanks!

For a quick fix:
grab the relevant thes files from here: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries
unzip the idx and dat files and put them in: /usr/share/myspell
correct the dictionary.lst file (so that it refers to v2) in: /usr/share/myspell and /usr/lib/openoffice/share/dict/ooo/
correct the symlinks in: /usr/lib/openoffice/share/dict/ooo/

That worked for me here with 3 different thesauri.
