Hi,
Having an issue with Firefox not rendering pages. This only happens occasionally, but you'll click a link to a website and it'll appear like nothing happened, apart from something did.

The window title will update to the new page as will the URL, but the area where the page is displayed appears to contain the content of the previous page you were (or blank if you opened a new tab). If I view the page source I can see the correct page content as should be displayed and confirmed using other browsers. Once it happens on one page, and you continue to use firefox it tends to happen on more and more. If I restart firefox, everything goes back to normal.

A fellow gentoo user also said he had seen the same once or twice but he uses konquerer mainly so wasn't able to offer anything useful to this.

I've had this issue with a few versions of firefox 2. Currently using www-client/mozilla-firefox-2.0.0.3, and I've also tried the binaries which seem to suffer the same.

I am confuzzled...

Cheers,

john

I have been having the same problem for a little while now. It is nothing reproducible. Closing out firefox fixes the issue. I am also using 2.0.0.3 but think it predates this. I am using KDE 3.5.6.

I have been having a similar issue since updating to Firefox 2.

On certain pages, I click a link and the same page reloads. A repeatable example for me is:

http://www.allegacyfcu.org

If I click the Web Banking link (left side of the page, about the middle), the home page simply reloads. If I tell it to open in a new tab or window, it only opens the home page again. I see this on various random web pages, but this is the one that catches my eye most often.

I've had this problem for like a year at least, probably ever since the very first Firefox1.5 alphas or thereabouts. It happens several times a day.

I am a strong user of firfox. My just occasionly crashes because I push it over the edge. I don't mind it as i just restore session. This error seems to be coming uo repeatly in this forum. What I have suggested so far is (command line)
download firefox from morzilla
mkdir /usr/local/firefox
cd /usr/local/firefox
tar xzvf ~/firefox*.tar.gz (Assumng its saved in ~)
then ./firefox

Well I have symlinked mine into the /usr/local/bin file but I have had no such issure.
The only thing that I can think of is that its something with emerge.

Compiled from source, binary from mozilla, doesn't make any difference, it always does this.

I have this problem too - it's very annoying.

One thing I have noticed is that if you resize the window, the new web page will render.

same problem here, for quite a while now, like numerodix. thanks for the resizing tip though, it's at least better than restarting that damn thing all the time :)
