Hi, I have a server running gentoo and recently tried to upgrade the profile to 2.6 hardened. I followed the instructions listed in the gentoo documentation. After this all hell broke loose.

The reason I tried to do this is portage informed me it was out of date.. So I upgraded portage and that went fine. I then noticed the profile I was using is going to be obsolete so I started to follow the instructions to update the profile.

I linked make.profile to the hardened 2.6 profile. When I got to the step of

emerge --oneshot binutils gcc virtual/libc

I get an ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY on emerging GCC or anything else I try to emerge.
After much searching on google and here I have tried a few things, none seem to have helped.. One place suggested doing a emerge --regen which went fine but I still get the issue.. Another suggested removeing and installing sandbox so I removed it and tried to reinstall, but I get the same error here..

I have copied the error from emerge sandbox below (GCC taking too long before the error shows, however it is identical).. This error show on every emerge now.

>>> Source compiled.
--------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY ---------------------------
LOG FILE = "/var/log/sandbox/sandbox-sys-apps_-_sandbox-1.2.17-6514.log"

access_wr: /
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the log file shows the same....

powertechserver html # cat /var/log/sandbox/sandbox-sys-apps_-_sandbox-1.2.17-6514.log
access_wr: /
powertechserver html #

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you in advance for any support..
