I stumbled across the same problem today and found the following in the change log of hal-0.5.9:
| Code: | *hal-0.5.9_rc2 (30 Mar 2007)
[...]
19 Feb 2007; <cardoe@gentoo.org> hal-0.5.7.1-r5.ebuild:
Add back hal_unmount that was accidently removed |
So I added the following lines to /etc/portage/package.keywords:
| Code: | ~sys-apps/hal-0.5.9 ~x86
~app-misc/hal-info-20070425 ~x86 |
(hal-info is required by hal-0.5.9)
I now have hal-0.5.9-r1 installed, which includes /lib/udev/hal_unmount again.
However, the rule calling hal_unmount (/lib/udev/hal_unmount/90-hal.rules) also changed:
hal-0.5.7:
| Code: | # pass all events to the HAL daemon
RUN+="socket:/org/freedesktop/hal/udev_event"
# unmount block devices when they are removed
SUBSYSTEM=="block",ACTION=="remove", RUN+="hal_unmount" |
hal-0.5.9:
| Code: | # pass all events to the HAL daemon
RUN+="socket:/org/freedesktop/hal/udev_event" |
Most important however the error message doesn't appear anymore when removing a device.
