PostPosted: Thu Oct 05, 2006 9:26 am    Post subject: can not load modules bitmap and pcidata Reply with quote

I am trying to install gentoo on my tabletpc tc1000 like it is described in
http://johanneswilm.org/TC1000/ (Thank you Johannes Wilm and Tomasz Sterna !!!)
Until now I did everything like it is described there and in the normal gentoo install howto.

Now I would like to have Gnome running.
When I use the xorg.conf of the HowTo I get a message:
(EE) Faild to load module "bitmap" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) Faild to load module "pcidata" (module does not exist, 0)

Except of a pendriver in a subdirectory called input there is no single file in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules => is that correct?

when I deactivate ModulePath in xorg.conf I get a black screen and an Error on the console:
(EE) Failed to load module "tc1k" (module does not exist, 0) => that's the pen driver
[...]
> Warning: Type "ONE_LEVEL" has 1 levels, but <RALT> has 2 symbols Ignoring extra symbols
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server

Then I tried to use the xorg-config program to write a valid xorg.conf using nv driver.
=> that works!
so i decided to write the pen section into the working xorg.conf
my pen does not work (screen rotaion not tried)

My system:
TC1000 transmeta Crusoe cpu, GeForrce2 Go
Kernel: 2.6.18 using the howto .config:http://johanneswilm.org/TC1000/kernel-config-x86-2.6.11-gentoo-r4 and added some points from the gentoo install howto

My skills: Using Suse since years, this is my first Gentoo installation.

Last change of the howto was on 25.03.05 => perhaps there changed someting in xorg.conf in the meanwhile?
Any other Idea?

now some code:
xorg.conf from howto
