|While there are gentoo lirc howtos out there, this howto
focuses on getting lirc running with irman. So if you've got
an irman hopefully this will simplify setup for you. If you've
got a different kind of reciever I suggest checking out the links
at the bottom of this post.
|echo 'LIRC_DEVICES="irman"' >> /etc/make.conf |
|vim /etc/conf.d/lircd |
set the contents to:
# Options to pass to the lircd process
Add lircd to the default run-level
rc-update add lircd default
Map your remote control
|irrecord --driver=irman --device=/dev/ttyS0 test.conf |
If you're happy with the contents of test.conf
copy the contents to /etc/lircd.conf
Test that you are recieving data from the remote.
1. from a console type irw and press the keys that you previously
registered with irrecord. They should display in the console.
From here you should be able to setup other lirc programs, like irexec.
