|
|
I have an Epson 3490 USB scanner, using the sane-snapscan backend.
sane-find-scanner and scanimage -L both return the scanner correctly, both as root and as user in group 'scanner'.
However, when I run xsane, it scans for devices, then the scanner makes a noise, then it says Code: | [snapscan] Scanner warming up - waiting 9 seconds. |
After a few seconds (probably 9), the light on the front of the scanner starts blinking red and a dialog box pops up that says Code: | Failed to open device `snapscan:libusb:001:005':
Error during device I/O |
The scanner will not respond again until I unplug it and plug it back in.
Any ideas?
Some relevant info: Code: |

Ok, I feel like an idiot now.
When installing a scanner, check the bottom of it. There's usually a physical switch used to lock/unlock the scanner. If it's locked, you'll get the error messages shown above. If it's unlocked, it will work beautifully.
Guess I should have RTFQSG (Read The Fine Quick Start Guide). |
