|
|
Desription:
SUSE Linux 10 comes with a handy search field in the Kmenu. With this your guide you can get it to gentoo using kde 3.5.4.
Screenshot:

It searches inside kmenu and directs you to content as it's typed.
Note
**You need to setup portage overlay first. See here: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Installing_3rd_Party_Ebuilds **
Getting Files:
Download kicker-3.5.4-r1.ebuild here **Note: This is the official ebuild from portage, just added one line: PATCHES="$FILESDIR/$KMNAME-$PV-$PN-kmenu-search-box-suse.patch"
Copy the file to /kde-base/kicker/ inside your overlay directory
For Example:
/usr/local/portage/kde-base/kicker
Download kdebase-3.5.4-kicker-kmenu-search-box-suse.patch here **Note: I don't know who made this patch but i don't think it's the official Suse patch.
Copy the file to /kde-base/kicker/files/ inside your overlay directory
For Example:
/usr/local/portage/kde-base/kicker/files
Making a Digest:
cd to /kde-base/kicker/ in your overlay dir and do
Code: | ebuild kicker-3.5.4-r1.ebuild digest |
Emerging:
Restart kde and you should see the searchbar in K-Menu
Im kind of a gentoo newbie and english isn't my native language so feel free to correct my mistakes
And im not responsible if your computer blows up or stuff like that |
