I just installed a new Rosewill internal multicard reader into my computer running Gentoo 2006.1, 2.6 kernel, and am having difficulty getting the OS to see a partition on a CF card. I'm running udev. All 4 devices show up under /dev/disk/by-id/...
Code: | d4 /dev/disk/by-id # ll

When I insert a CF card into the reader, nothing changes. No "...part1" shows up in this directory.
I also have a Lexar external USB multicard reader, and the same thing occurrs. However, if I unplugged my reader and plugged it back in with the card already inserted, then it would see the card and work just fine. However, if I plugged the reader in without the card, then the card partition would never appear as a device. Of course, unplugging the internal card reader is not an option, as I have no intentions in breaking down my case every time I want it to see a CF card. :-)
Is there any way to have the kernel scan the USB device for partitions so that they will show up in the device list above? As it is, I can never gain access to a card inserted in the reader.
Any ideas/comments would be appreciated. |
