Wanted to try out injecting on ipw2200 and found this http://tinyshell.be/aircrackng/forum/index.php?topic=400.0 and I got the patches and made ebuilds for ipw2200-1.2.0 and aircrack-ng-0.6.1 with the use-flag "inject".

Everything compiles and theres an rtap-interface (modprobe ipw2200 iface_rtap=1) but I havent tried injecting yet (need networks with the right channels). More docs can be found in the above mentioned thread.

Anyway, heres the files (put in your portage overlay):
http://tux.servegame.org/~mrt/download/ipw2200-inject/ipw2200-inject-ebuilds-20060916.tar.bz2

usage example (copied and modified from the other thread):
Code:

modprobe ipw2200 rtap_iface=1
ifconfig eth1 up
ifconfig rtap0 up
# Associate to any ap with any key
iwconfig eth1 essid MYNETWORK
iwconfig eth1 key s:anykey
# We cannot perform attack 0, but if we are associated to the victim ap we can use our real mac
aireplay-ng -2 -h 00:0E:35:42:AC:75 -c ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff -i rtap0 eth1
aireplay-ng -3 -h 00:0E:35:42:AC:75 -i rtap0 eth1
aireplay-ng -4 -h 00:0E:35:42:AC:75 -i rtap0 eth1

To keep this up to date:

Since Gentoo stopped using the external package(net-wireless/ipw2200) and started using the kernel equivalent, you have to patch your kernel.
I took the original patch and modified it to apply to the 2.6.19 and 2.620 kernel smoothly.
http://porno-bullen.de/~bluebird/ipw2200-inject/kernel-patches/

And you don't have to patch aircrack-ng anymore, upstream already applied the patch. Just make sure you are using >=net-wireless/aircrack-ng-7.0.
(And you don't need to use --ipwsys anymore, it's auto-detected)

Has anyone created a nice and simple HOWTO for this?

There's no need to apply patches to the kernel anymore with the 2.6.22 kernel. Just enable this:

(Networking ---> Wireless ---> Generic IEEE 802.11 Networking Stack )

(Device Drivers ---> Network Device Support ---> Wireless LAN ---> Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11) ---> Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG and 2915ABG Network Connection (NEW)

<*> Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG and 2915ABG Network Connection
[*] Enable promiscuous mode
--- Enable radiotap format 802.11 raw packet support
[*] Enable creation of a RF radiotap promiscuous interface

I wouldn't be sure about that. Yes, 2.6.22 kernel and above has rtap interface, but the injection patch is not there so aircrack-ng will not work.
