Hey guys,
I'm curious if there is another place that Gentoo/Portage stores the messages and warnings that sometimes fly by your screen when you're emerging a package (the ones that seem to be denoted by asterisks)? I only ask because somtimes they are important and most of the time you can't read that fast
I tend to miss the messages for one of two reasons:
a) You emerge a package that has some dependencies that it also needs to emerge (so the warnings scroll off the screen too quickly or you just happen to miss them because you blinked!)
b) You switch consoles and when you switch back, you can't scroll up because the console buffer doesn't save.
I've checked in /var/log/emerge.log and they aren't present there.
Is there anywhere else I need to look? Some handy tool I could install that logs/stores them? And I'm already aware of CTRL+S and CTRL+Q, but they're pointless if you miss them if you're on another console.
Thanks in advance! |

You may google around for a program named "enotice". I think i've discovered it in Gentoo Weekly Newsletter some maybe long time ago.
This program captures all warning and let you read it when you wish. _________________ ====================== |
