|
|
Okay so I did a fresh install of gentoo yesterday on a new home computer I built. All was going fine and well until I tried to set a new wallpaper in fluxbox. When using fbsetbg I get the following error:
Code: |
m1ndctrl@m1ndbox ~ $ fbsetbg wallpapers/wp-dunhill-1440x900.jpg
Esetroot: Unable to load image file "wallpapers/wp-dunhill-1440x900.jpg".
m1ndctrl@m1ndbox ~ $ /usr/bin/fbsetbg: line 169: xmessage: command not found
|
Okay so no big deal, I try it with feh:
Code: |
m1ndctrl@m1ndbox ~ $ feh wallpapers/wp-dunhill-1440x900.jpg
feh WARNING: wallpapers/wp-dunhill-1440x900.jpg - No Imlib2 loader for that file format
feh - No loadable images specified.
Use feh --help for detailed usage information
m1ndctrl@m1ndbox ~ $
|
imlib2 and Image-Imlib2 are both emerged.
Furthermore, when using pornview or any other image viewer (xv, etc) I can not see nor open JPEG and PNG files.
I tried emerging the JPEG lib but that did not seem to help.
Can anyone offer me some advice please? I've never had a problem like this and it seems really weird that it would happen.
Oh and as an added bonus of confusion - all images work properly in firefox. _________________ m1ndctrl |

can you please post the output of
off the top of my head there are png and jpeg USE flags. I'd suggest you need to enable them and then emerge -Nav world |

Code: | xante@xante ~ $ feh --bg-scale ~/personal/random/gentoo-water-1280x1024.jpg
feh WARNING: /home/xante/personal/random/gentoo-water-1280x1024.jpg - No Imlib2 loader for that file format
feh ERROR: Couldn't load image in order to set bg

This just randomly died on my today, and now my theme is horrible to look at simply because its based on transparency and that particular background
Anyways, my emerge info:

I have reemerged multiple things and am currently running an emerge world. Will post results later.
Thank you for any advice. |

You guys have to reemerge imlib2 with the jpeg and png flags set
Edit: Add it to /etc/portage/package.use though it seems like the none set flags aren't used even though they show up in the USE section with emerge --info _________________ AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ AM2

It appears that it is accepting my use flags:
Code: | xante@xante ~ $ emerge -pv imlib2
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] media-libs/imlib2-1.3.0 USE="X jpeg mp3 nls png zlib -bzip2 -doc -gif -mmx -tiff" 0 kB

But I shall try your suggestion none the less. |

Thank you very much, that seemed to fix it. I dont understand why my global flags were not being recognized though? :S |

Glad I could help
It seems to be baselayout related, but I'm not sure. After an update I had to set almost every use flag to package.use or system wide in make.conf which works like it want's to sometimes _________________ AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ AM2

Problem still exists here:
Code: | IMLIB ERROR: Cannot load image: /home/lolo/pics/ich.png
All fallbacks failed.
kuickshow: WARNING: ImlibWidget: can't load image file:///home/lolo/pics/ich.png |
And also for some jpegs.
I reemerged imlib and imlib2.
Code: | lolo@hurra ~ % emerge imlib2 imlib -pv
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] media-libs/imlib2-1.3.0 USE="X bzip2 gif jpeg mmx mp3 nls png tiff zlib -doc" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-libs/imlib-1.9.14-r3 0 kB
|
But still doesn't work. Anyone can help?

Change your profile to 2006.1/desktop and run
Code: |
emerge -avuDN world
|
I have had this type of problem, and seen others with the same as a result of using the basic 2006.1 profile for desktop machines.
Have a look at https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-497485-highlight-.html for more details |
